DA clears officer in fatal shooting

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A prosecutor has cleared a Wisconsin police officer in a fatal shooting.

WISN-TV reported Friday  that District Attorney Robert Zapf announced Officer Pablo Torres was justified in killing Aaron Siler in March 2015.

According a state Department of Justice report, Siler was wanted on felony warrant and Torres chased him into a garage. Two men in the garage said Siler threatened Torres with a plastic bucket and urged Torres to shoot him.

Torres told state agents he felt he had to use his gun because Siler had armed himself.

The incident occurred on Torres’ first day back after he shot and wounded a knife-wielding man 10 days earlier.

WISN-TV reports Siler’s family is considering a civil lawsuit. Siler’s mother told state agents he suffered from attention-deficit and bi-polar disorders.
