ORLANDO, FL (WFLA) — A man is suing Disney Cruise Line over a severed thumb, NBC affiliate WESH-TV reported.

The lawsuit filed this week in Orlando federal court alleges that the man’s finger was cut off while he was on a Disney cruise. The plaintiff Marco Fidel Acosta says his thumb was severed during an April 2015 Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy when a cabin door slammed on it, according to WESH.

Acosta’s thumb was cut off and not able to be reattached. According to the lawsuit, Acosta alleges that Disney Cruise Line was negligent in maintaining safe cabin doors, not warning people about dangers of the doors or installing safety devices on the hinges, along with failing to provide adequate medical care.

The suit seeks a jury trial for an unspecified amount to cover the man’s medical care and other costs.

A Disney Cruise Line spokesperson told WESH Orlando that they’re not commenting on the lawsuit.
