Columbus Police conducting sobriety checkpoint in Brewery District Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–The Columbus Division of Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on S. High St. at Deshler Ave. Friday evening.

The diversion area for the checkpoint will be located at 1045 S. High St.

“When analyzing crash statistics over the past five years, it was discovered there are large intersections near this location that have an inordinate number of crashes involving an impaired driver,” said Columbus Police Traffic Bureau Sergeant Michael Smith. During a five-year period between 2010 and 2014, four percent of the non-freeway crashes reported to Columbus Police involved an impaired driver.

The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 25 and will continue until approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
