COLUMBUS, Ohio — She’s not a “master” of the game just yet, but she’s pretty good. Especially for a 10-year-old.
Mia Raines is one of 10 national qualifiers in her 10-11 girls age group for Sunday’s Drive, Chip And Putt National Championship tournament, to be conducted at Augusta National Golf Club. She won 3 smaller qualifying tournaments to reach the national final.
Raines, whose family lives in Delaware County, is one of 3 Ohio golfers who earned a spot in the tournament, plus the opportunity to meet some of the PGA golfers who will be practicing for The Masters. Mia was adopted as a baby from her native China, and despite a heart defect at birth she’s remained healthy and strong. Her golf game reflects that, as she routinely stripes straight drives over 150 yards.
The competition will air live Sunday morning on Golf Channel.
