Murder suspect who prompted west side manhunt arrested

Tyler J. Schailey

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A murder suspect who prompted a west Columbus manhunt when he jumped from an apartment complex roof has been arrested.

Court records show Tyler J. Schailey was booked into the Franklin County jail early Thursday morning.

He was arrested without incident based on tips sent to the Sheriff’s office, according to Chief Deputy Jim Gilbert.

Investigators said Schailey escaped from SWAT officers early Wednesday morning by jumping off an apartment complex roof, prompting an all-out manhunt.

Schailey is accused of killing 18-year-old Abdikadir Abdikadir on March 20 at an apartment complex on Viotis Drive in Franklin Township.

Deputies say Abdikadir and two other people had gone to the apartment complex to make a drug deal when he was shot.

Schailey is due in court Friday morning. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
