Two arrested after baby dies in Franklinton apartment

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two people are charged with involuntary manslaughter after an 8-month-old baby died after being found unresponsive last year in a Franklinton-area apartment.

Evette M. Taylor, 21, and Quentin L. Jones, 22, were arrested in Florida, police say.

Both are from New Castle, Pennsylvania and are charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering children.

evette taylor quentin jonesAccording to Columbus police,Adriana Barker suffered fatal injuries on February 20, 2015 in an apartment on Martin Avenue in Columbus.

“I heard an argument going on down there sounds like they were knocking over furniture and knocking over everything else then all of a sudden it sounded like they were throwing dishes and throwing everything breakable because you could hear glass breaking,” said upstairs neighbor Linda Scammicca.

Investigators said it looked like there had been a fight in the apartment.

Scammica said it was then quiet for an hour and a half, “then all of a sudden I heard a loud thud against the door like someone being thrown against the door.”

Within minutes, medics rushed in, taking the unresponsive infant to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she later died.
