Undercover officer, suspect shot in Alabama

GRAND BAY, AL (WKRG) —  Mobile, Alabama Police officers have confirmed an officer was shot twice early this morning at a Citgo Station near an Interstate 10 exit in Grand Bay.

The officer was taken to USA Medical Center in stable condition.

WKRG reported the shooting occurred next to a Waffle House on Grand Bay-Wilmer Road.  The suspect in the shooting was also shot.  We do not know that person’s condition at this time.

A WKRG photographer saw a body being placed into a body bag at the scene, but police have not officially said whether the suspect died.

Witnesses told WKRG it appeared to be an undercover drug deal gone wrong. Witnesses say the suspect was meeting people behind the restaurant when undercover police officers turned their car lights on.  The suspect attempted to flee on a motorcycle.  He was chased to a nearby gas station where the shooting happened.
