Fire contained at Columbus scrap yard

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Firefighters have contained a fire at a scrap yard in south Columbus.

Fire crews were called to the 2200 block of Parsons Avenue at about 4:30pm Sunday, on the report of a fire.

Battalion Chief Tom DeLong told NBC4 a pile of trash caught fire in the scrapyard’s lot.

DeLong said smoke from the fire is filling several southside neighborhoods. He advises residents to stay inside and keep windows closed until the smoke clears.

No word on any injuries.
