HAMILTON CO., Tenn. (WRCB/WFLA) Firefighters in Hamilton County, Tennessee made quite an unusual rescue this weekend after a bull decided to take a dip in his family’s swimming pool.

The owners say that they have no idea how long the animal was in the pool–they were alerted to the situation by the family’s rescue dog.

Firefighters admit that getting the bull, named Boe, out of the pool presented a unique challenge.

“He weighs over 2,000 pounds, so how are you going to get 2,000 pounds out of a pool?” asked Assistant Chief Jack Brellenthin of Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue.

”He got his feet up on the pool cover and then finally he got up,” said Brellenthin. ”Once he stood up he walked out of the gate and went ‘mooooo’ and then walked off that was it.”

A tow truck and tractor were put on standby to help get the bull out of the pool, WRCB reported.

Firefighters were eventually able to rescue the bull, and the owners are thankful that nothing worse came from the big guy’s curiosity. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
