Woman runs from attacker, hides in Arena District garage

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police say a woman hid in the elevator of an Arena District parking garage while fleeing a possible attacker early Tuesday morning.

An elevator company called Columbus police around 2:50am Tuesday after a woman pushed the alarm button and said she was trapped inside.

Police worked for nearly 30 minutes to locate the correct elevator based on a vague description of the surroundings relayed to dispatchers.

The victim was eventually located at the northwest corner of a parking garage on Marconi Blvd. near the Studio Movie Grill. She told police that it all started at Rachel’s Gentlemen’s Club on Channingway Blvd. on the far east side of Columbus.

Medics took the woman to an area hospital to be treated for injuries.

Police are now investigating what happened and trying to figure out who she was fleeing from.
