Heart-pounding body cam video captures suspect’s shooting

CINCINNATI, OH (WFLA) – Ohio police have released body camera footage showing an officer-involved shooting involving a man armed with a large knife.

Repeatedly shouting “kill me” and “shoot me”, Javier Pablo Aleman was shown in the video released Tuesday trying to goad Glendale, Ohio police into using deadly force.

body cam shootingThe intense altercation came moments after the officer had spotted Aleman walking along I-75, WLWT reported.  Aleman, carrying a backpack, said he was coming from Dayton. The officers asked if he had any identification and the man could not produce ID.

The officer requested the individual place his hands on the cruiser for a pat down when he noticed a knife come from the suspect’s waistband. That’s when the officer shot the suspect in the abdomen but kept approaching the officer, WLWT reported.

At one point in the tense, 2 1/2 minute confrontation, you hear an officer say, “I don’t want to kill you.”

Then, the voice of Glendale Officer Joshua Hilling is heard.

“Please get down, we don’t want to.”

“Shoot me, shoot me, shoot me,” Aleman kept repeating to the officer.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody. He is being treated for the gunshot would and is facing attempted murder charges.
