Man charged in deadly New Year’s Day shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A man has been charged with murder after a New Year’s Day shooting left one man dead and another injured in east Columbus

Columbus police announced on Friday that Shauntel N. Brodie, 26, was charged with murder in the death of Robert D. Brigham.

Police responded to reports of a shooting near an alley north of 883 Lilley Ave. at about 8:24 pm on Jan. 1, 2016. Police found two victims, Brigham, 21, and Antonio L. Parks, 26, with life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Brigham died of his injuries more than two weeks later. An update on Parks condition has not been released.

Investigators determined an argument between the suspect and the victims caused the shooting. Police have not released whether or not Brodie shot Parks in this incident.

Brodie, listed as a Greensboro, North Carolina resident, is being held at the Guilford County Jail in Greensboro on several felony charges, including robbery with a dangerous weapon incident from February. He is being held on a $150,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Columbus Police Homicide officers at 614-645-4730 or the Crimestoppers TIPS Line at 614-645-8477.
