Police file murder charges in connection to death of 16-year-old boy

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Murder charges have been filed against a man police suspect shot and killed a teenage boy in August.

Columbus police have charged Marquez Turner, 25, with murder in connection with the death of 16-year-old Richard D. Ferguson IV.

Police said Turner and Ferguson were in a verbal altercation on the night of August 18, 2015. At about 10:13 pm, police responded to the area of 1048 E. 15th Ave. on reports of a shooting.

Investigators determined Ferguson was shot multiple times while riding his bike westbound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Turner was already serving a one-year prison sentence for having weapons under disability and escape, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
