Orphaned cubs get second chance

(KRNV) Four orphaned bear cubs are getting a second chance at life at a Reno, Nevada animal sanctuary.

The cubs’ mother recently died, and they’re too young to survive in the wild on their own.

On Saturday The Nevada Department of Wildlife captured the cubs, and on Tuesday the cubs found a caring new home at Animal Ark in Reno.

“Next year, after the cubs have grown enough, they’ll be put into hibernation, and we’ll be going into either the Lake Tahoe back country or some other portion of Nevada bear habitat and actually releasing these cubs into an artificial den. They will emerge next spring, and they’ll be on their own and hopefully wild bears,” says Chris Healy of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
