RIVERDALE, NJ (WFLA) – A New Jersey police officer saved a man’s life by tackling him to the ground when he tried to jump off a bridge.
NBC News reported that Sergeant Greg Bogert responded to a call about a man running in and out of traffic on a local roadway. Officer Bogert found the man crying and upset, running in front of cars.
The report says the man then yelled, “My family is dead. I just want to die.”
When the officer tried to calm the man down, the man rushed towards the edge of the bridge and was about to jump off.
Sgt. Bogert managed to grab him and tackle him to the ground. Paramedics took the man to a local hospital for an evaluation.
