COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–Officials say that a 17-year-old fugitive from Illinois was captured Thursday in Columbus on a murder warrant.

The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) tracked down Kire Carr of Rock Island, Illinois at an apartment on the southwest side, according to a press release. Carr was wanted for allegedly shooting a 15-year-old during a dispute on April 27.

Carr was found in a home on Floral Circle South with an infant and a female accomplice who is alleged to have been with him at the time of the shooting. Officials say Carr was reportedly planning to be in Columbus briefly before fleeing to coastal Georgia. He is currently in custody, awaiting extradition proceedings.
