Off-duty Cincinnati firefighter killed in Winton Road crash

CINCINNATI (WLWT) —A Cincinnati firefighter is dead after a motorcycle crash in Spring Grove Village.

Authorities said the motorcycle crashed on Winton Road near Dutch Colony Drive at around 6:30 a.m.

Lt. Steve Saunders said that the firefighter was in the southbound lanes, on his way to work, when he was struck by an oncoming car that went left of center in the 5200 block of Winton Road.

The firefighter was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released by police, but the firefighter’s union identified him as Jordan Pieniazek.

“Pieniazek began his career with the CFD in 2009 and leaves behind his wife and two beautiful children,” the union said in a Facebook post.

Saunders had no information about the driver of the car.
