19 monkeys recaptured after escaping research facility

YEMASSEE, SC (WCMH) —  A research facility in South Carolina had a time trying to recapture 19 monkeys that escaped over the weekend.

According to WTOC, the monkeys originally escaped from the Alpha Genesis Lab Sunday at about 1pm.

All of the monkeys were recaptured at about 11pm later Sunday night.

Officials say the monkeys did not have any dangerous diseases but could have still been dangerous to humans because they are wild animals.

WTOC reported a broke or loose cage door was what caused the escape.
