As investigation continues, community recovers in Pike Co. shootings

PIKE COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — Tow trucks carried several vehicles away from the crime scene on Union Hill Road in Pike County Tuesday afternoon, shortly after a funeral for six members of the Rhoden family took place in Scioto County.

A spokesperson for the Ohio Attorney General’s office confirmed the cars were being towed as part of the BCI investigation.

In nearby Waverly, Paula Detillian sat inside Diner 23 for lunch. Detillian said she was a former coworker of Dana Rhoden.

“Whatever they did, nobody deserved to get killed like that,” Detillian said.

Detillian said she had heard about the marijuana grow operations and had also heard some of the rumors. She said she wasn’t sure what to believe.

“It’s just tragic,” she said. “And their families, or what’s left, I know they’re grieving and sad. It’s just, you know, she was always a nice lady and it was a good family, as far as I knew.”

Detillian said she didn’t think anyone else in the community was in danger.

“To me, it sounds like it’s just for them,” she said. “I think it was just, they were just targeted. I don’t think they’re going to bother anybody else. But they could, they could, you know. Nobody knows yet.”
