Police replace widow’s stolen American flag

GREEN BAY, WI (WCMH) — When the widow of a World War II veteran had her flag stolen, police responded by buying her a new one.

According to Green Bay Police Department, the women reported her flag was stolen from the front of her home sometime Friday. She had hung up the flag to honor her husband, a World War II veteran who had recently died.

When Officer Rob Ecke heard what had happened, he purchased her a new flag and officers posted it to her house.

The Green Bay Police Department’s Facebook post about the incident has since gone viral, with the pictures getting more than 32,000 likes and has been shared more than 14,000 times.
