Police: Fight over feeding squirrels leads to shooting

BOULDER, CO (WCMH) — A man was shot in the buttocks and another man is facing attempted-murder charges after police said an argument over feeding squirrels turned violent.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Jon Marc Barbour, 59, was arrested after he called 911 and told dispatchers he had shot his neighbor, Jeffrey Browning.

Deputies said the shooting started out of an argument over Barbour’s habit of feeding peanuts to area squirrels.

Neighbors told KDVR, that some were worried about kids in the neighborhood who suffered from peanut allergies.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports Barbour told deputies he shot Browning during a struggle after Browning hit him in the head while they argued.

Browning, however, told investigators he was shot in the buttocks as he was walking away from Barbour.
