Your favorite places to get a hot dog in Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Today is National Hot Dog day, and we’re helping you celebrate.

Last month, we asked our readers on Facebook where to get a good frank in this city, and you all delivered! Here are seven major-league hot dog joints in Columbus, enjoy!

Dirty Franks Hot Dog Palace

Dirty Franks Close UpThis mansion of dogs came up early in the conversation, and it’s easy to see why! With more than 30 hot dog options on the menu, this palace really has a wealth of choices to get your fix for a frank. Don’t forget to pair that pig in a blanket with mac-& cheese or some sriracha slaw. Head on down to South 4th street or 2836 West Broad Street and try a bratwurst for yourself!

Dare Devil Dogs

Do you dare try a hot dog with caramelized shaved Brussels? Well you totally should. This place serves up the classic American cuisine with a high-intensity twist in every bite. With dogs like the ‘Sky Diver’ and ‘Thrill Seeker’ you already know this eating experience is going to feel like a roller coaster in your mouth. This intense eatery is at 1437 North High St.

Dan’s Deli

Dan's Deli 1This food truck makes a very special stop at the Home Depot on Hamilton road in Gahanna and serves up their ‘Depot Dogs’ fresh!  We missed them, but you don’t have to! Check it out every Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

This restaurant does up dogs with all your favorite toppings, from sauerkraut and mustard, to the famous Chicago-style frank served on a poppy-seed bun. YUM! For the little ones with less adventurous taste buds, there’s a plain hot dog on the menu as well. Head over to Northwest Blvd. to check it out!

Village Coney

Village Conet 3Resting in the German Village is a Coney dog paradise. You can grab a ‘Village Coney’ with mustard, onions, and their special chili sauce to get a taste for their original. Plus they have 1/3 pound burgers and salads on the menu too! But don’t just take our word for it. Go to 418 Whittier Street and check it out for yourself!

Best of the Wurst

Located in the North Market, Best of the Wurst serves up a marriage of east and west between a hot dog bun. They’re cooking all-beef dogs and burgers. They also serve sandwiches. Make your way to the North Market on Spruce St. and give it a try!

Old Skool

A sports bar on North High St. in Clintonville is serving up dogs like the ‘Def Lepard’ and the ‘Macguyver.’ You can’t go wrong when you go old skool. What goes better with a frank, than an ice-cold beer? Nothing. So grab a Fat Heads Trailhead to wash down your dog. They’ve got it on tap.
