Man dead, 3 others injured in Perry County collision

PERRY COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — A driver has died, a 10-year-old girl was seriously harmed and two teens were hospitalized after a two-car collision west of New Lexington on Saturday morning.

Joseph S. Sole, 40, of Sabina, was heading westbound on Perry County Road 57. As he neared County Road 23 in Jackson Township, troopers said he failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by 18-year-old Kevin J. Beal 11 of Pleasantville.

Troopers said Sole was taken to Fairfield Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A 10-year-old passenger in Sole’s vehicle was also taken to FMC and later transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she remains in “critical but stable condition.”

Beal and a 16-year-old passenger were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash continues to investigate the crash.
