COLUMBUS (WCMH) – West Columbus neighbors want to take back their neighborhoods after three violent early morning rapes in just one month.
The first happened Wednesday, April 18 around 4:15am in the 400 block of Brehl Avenue. A woman was assaulted by three men and police say a firearm was involved.
Less than a week later on Tuesday, April 24 around 4:00am another woman was attacked in the 2600 block of Sullivant Avenue. This time just two men were involved, but again the men used a firearm.
Then on Wednesday, May 19 around 4:15am a woman was attacked in the 400 block of S. Burgess Avenue. Three men forced her into an alley and raped her at gunpoint. The woman struggled and was shot in the abdomen. She was last listed in fair condition at Mt. Carmel West Hospital.
Organizers with the South Central Hilltop Block Watch say neighbors need to get more involved and watch out for each other.
