COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police say they have arrested one possible suspect in the west Columbus serial rapes investigation.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, Eric Allan Pearce-Robinson, has been charged with one count of rape and has been taken into custody after an incident that happened May 19 in the area of Sullivant Avenue and South Burgess Avenue.
Pearce-Robinson’s photo is being withheld while police investigate other recent west side sexual assaults.
His fiancee, Kayla Hoop, said she doesn’t believe the allegations.
“I don’t think it’s true. There’s no way,” she said.
Pearce-Robinson’s mother, Melinda Pearce, said she had strong words for her son.
“I told him ‘if I found out that you did it, I’ll cut your thing off myself,'” she said.
“I’m a victim of rape, so my son is aware of that. My son says, ‘mom, oh my God I would never want to see that happen to somebody else.'”
She also said she doesn’t believe her son is one of the men involved.
“I say they’re false accusations. I say that he’s being charged falsely,” she said.
Police continue to investigate, but ask anyone with information to call the CPD’s Sexual Assault tip line at 614 645-4266, or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614 645-4881.
