COLUMBUS, Ohio — He grew up in Hilliard and would often come to watch the Memorial Tournament in-person. The best players in the world come to his hometown and someday he hoped to join them.
Ethan Tracy’s big chance has arrived.
The Hilliard Darby graduate has earned a special exemption to play in this year’s Memorial Tournament. It will be his second PGA Tour appearance. He played the event at Quail Hollow in Charlotte earlier this month.
Tracy was an all-SEC golfer at Arkansas and has played several events on the Canadian and Latin tours. But at the Memorial, against one of the best fields in golf, he’ll take his biggest test.
And an old friend will join him for the ride. David Haley, Jr. will work as Tracy’s caddie for the week, a childhood friend and former teammate at Hillard Darby. Haley, a former golfer at Minnesota, has watched his friend steadily develop into a consistent, skilled player.
Ethan says he’ll have countless family and friends in the gallery to support him Thursday when he’ll strike his first tee shot in competition at Muirfield Village.
