CINCINNATI, OH (WCMH) — There’s no question about it. Cheetahs are fast.
Now, we’re getting a first of its kind, first perspective look at what it looks like when a cheetah sprints at top speeds.
The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden posted a video on its Facebook page showing one of its cheetahs, Savanna, running after prey while wearing a GoPro camera. Savannah has been clocked at speeds of 60 miles per hour in the past, and she didn’t disappoint while wearing a camera harness on her back.
The video shows her shoot out of the gate and make a 180 degree turn without hardly slowing down at all. The entire time, her head remains nearly motionless while her body fluidly moves up and down.
The zoo says the perspective gives them new insight on how cheetahs manage their top speed.
