‘Fallen 15’ race honors Central Ohio fallen service members

DUBLIN OH (WCMH)–The Fallen 15 is an organization created two years ago to remember Central Ohio service members who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Saturday morning, hundreds of people gathered for the Fallen 15’s annual 15K run. Runners from all over Central Ohio weaved through the streets of Dublin. As each runner made his or her way to the next kilometer, a flag would be there featuring a different service member who made the ultimate sacrifice in the global war on terror.

Alyssa Belkofer attended Saturday’s race in honor of her father.

“On days like today and like Memorial Day weekend it just reminds me that my dad was willing to sacrifice everything he had even his life for something that he truly supported,” said Belfoker.

Lt. Col. Thomas P. Belkofer died May 18,2010 in Kabul, Afghanistan while conducting combat operations.
