Barn fire kills nearly 800 pigs

BELLFONTAINE, OH (WDTN/WCMH) – Nearly 800 pigs die in a massive barn fire in Bellfontaine.

Dispatch says firefighters were called to Rushwood Farms in the 3200 block of County Road 13 around 11:15 Friday night.

When crews arrived they found two buildings fully engulfed.

Around 10 other departments were called in to assist.

Officials say damage is estimated around $400,000.

The Associated Press reports that 72 sows and more than 700 piglets died.

There are no reports of any human injuries.

The cause is under investigation.
