Close encounter: Zoo lion runs into glass in effort to ‘play with’ young boy

(NTV) A 2-year-old boy and his family recently got quite a scare at Japanese zoo.

After a staring contest with the toddler, a lion rushed toward the boy and tried to jump on him.

Fortunately, the big cat hit a glass wall that separates the animal from human visitors.

The entire incident was caught on camera.

Zookeepers say the lion weighs more than 400 pounds and has a habit of frolicking when he sees small children because he wants to play with them.

The zoo set up the glass display in April to enable visitors to get a closer look at lions.
