DAYTON, OH (WDTN) – The U.S. Navy Blue Angels announced Tuesday they have cancelled their planned appearance at the this year’s Vectren Dayton Air Show.
“We are saddened by the tragic loss of Marine Captain Jeff Kuss, Blue Angel # 6 in Tennessee last week,” stated Michael Emoff, United States Air and Trade Show Board of Trustees Chairman. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Captain Kuss’s family and the Blue Angel team members,” he added.
Officials say the air show will go on as planned.
The show plans to add one attraction and tribute to Captain Jeff Kuss to the feature flying show both days. Details will be announced once plans are finalized. Kuss was killed after the Blue Angels F/A-18 he was flying, crashed while taking off for a practice session ahead of a weekend air show last Thursday near Nashville, Tennessee,.
