Bouncing baby boy born at more than 14 pounds

WICHITA, KS (WCMH) — A Kansas couple welcomed the newest addition to their family, and boy did the baby boy make an entrance.

Moses William Hilton was born 11 days early and weighing 14.4 pounds, according to KAKE.

Moses is the Hilton’s third child, and he came in weighing about the size of a watermelon.

“When the nurse took him out, the nurse said, ‘It’s a mini sumo wrestler.’ I said ‘What?’ Then they showed me him and I was like ‘That is a sumo wrestler,’” Moses’ mom Gina Hilton told KAKE.

The couple was expecting a 10 pounds baby, since each of their daughters weighed nine each, but even the staff at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center was shocked at his size.

“Just surprising how different that feels to hold a baby that big, and just to look at a baby with those chubby cheeks. They’re even chubbier than what you’d normally expect on babies,” said Jill White with the hospital.

Moses also measured in at 22 inches, about two inches longer than a typical newborn.

But with his size comes expectation. The Hiltons are already thinking about his future.

I was thinking linebacker, basketball, you know, all kinds of different sports. But in reality, all I want is him to be healthy and happy,” said his dad Les Hilton.
