COLUMBUS (WCMH)–An officer with the Columbus Division of Police helped a lost fawn get to safety after some passersby noticed her stranded in the middle of the road.

Rebecca Wagner posted video on Facebook of Officer Matthew Mitchell picking up the fawn. Wagner said the little one had tried to follow its mother across the street, got tired, and simply laid down. Wagner and another woman kept cars from running over the fawn as they decided what to do, and then Mitchell appeared “out of the blue like a super hero.”

He scooped up the fawn and moved her to safety.

The Ohio Division of Wildlife said Mitchell did the right thing by putting the fawn back where its mother could see it.
