Two-alarm fire displaces 10 families in SW Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Ten families were forced from their homes Sunday evening as a two-alarm fire torched a southwest Columbus apartment building.

Columbus firefighters responded to a three-story complex just after 7pm on a report of a fire at 885 Wedgewood Drive. Fire was showing through the roof once units arrived at the scene.

Officials called out a second alarm due to the size of the building. Crews were able to contain the fire with no injuries, but fire officials say 10 families were displaced in the fire.

A cause and area of origin remain under investigation.

The American Red Cross has been called out to assist the families.
