Two children dead in northeast Columbus house fire

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Two children were killed early this morning in a north Columbus house fire.

Katheryn and Aaron Foster

Homeowner Tacie Amatulli identified the children as her niece and nephew Katheryn, 10 and Aaron, 12, Foster.

They were visiting from Minnesota and had asked to spend just one more night.

Friends said Amatulli jumped out her back bedroom window and ran around to the front of the house, but couldn’t get to the children.

“Police officers who first arrived and neighbors could hear them in there, they were trying to get them out and they were just over come by the flames and the smoke,” says Columbus Police Homicide Sgt. Dave Sicilian.

Amatulli’s 23-year-old son Ryan also made it out with only injuries to his hand, her two dogs did not survive.

The family did not have insurance and also needs help with funeral expenses. If you’d like to help you can donate to The Amatulli Fire/Funeral Fund at any Huntington Bank.
