Man hospitalized after Florida alligator attack

BUSHNELL, Fla. (WESH/WFLA) —A 58-year-old man was attacked by an alligator in Bushnell Tuesday evening, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The attack occurred at 6:30 p.m. at the 4000 block of CR 311. According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the man noticed some sort of disturbance near his horses and went to check it out. He saw the alligator that was between 8 and 9 feet long.

According to SCSO, the man shot at the reptile and thought he killed it, so he came closer. That’s when the gator lunged and bit the man on the right leg. The man was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
