Teen shot in leg in near east Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH)–Columbus Police say a 14-year-old boy is in stable condition after being shot in the leg Thursday. They are actively searching for suspects.

Police say the boy claimed he was near Trevitt Street and Atcheson Street when someone fired multiple gunshots at him. He told police he got into a vehicle to take cover. As the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Atcheson Street, the boy says he heard several more gunshots which struck the vehicle he was in and hit him in the left leg.

Police say they were originally called out to Trevitt Street on reports of shots fired into a house.
