Morgan was arrested early Sunday morning by SWAT officers at a home on Homestead Drive in Columbus.

According to court records, Elijah Morgan was already awaiting trial in two felony burglary cases as well as a misdemeanor receiving stolen property charge.

In February, Morgan was arrested after leading police on a foot chase during a break-in at the home of a 67-year-old man on Quinlan Blvd, according to a police report. Court records indicate he was indicted in that case and for a burglary that happened in early May.

Court records indicate bond was set at $50,000 for both felony cases. Morgan’s bond was posted on May 24, just one month before the fatal shooting on Oak Bend Blvd.

Morgan is expected to appear in court for arraignment later this morning.
