$40k worth of fireworks stolen from Fayette Co. fireworks store

BLOOMINGBURG, OH (WCMH) —  Police are searching for the suspects who stole $40,000 worth of fireworks from a Phantom Fireworks store in Bloomingburg.

According to deputies, at about 1:30am, Friday, June 24, the suspects arrived in multiple vehicles, cut through a fence to gain access to the property, then cut through the semi-trailer uses to store the fireworks.


Investigators say the suspects took consumer grade fireworks worth $40,000, and there have been additional similar incidents in Pennsylvania and Florida. There was also a similar robbery attempt at the Chillicothe Fireworks Store, according to investigators.

A $5,000 reward is being offered by Phantom Fireworks for information leading to the identification of the people involved in the theft.

Anyone with information can call the State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau at 1-800-2728 or the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at 740-335-6170.
