PENSACOLA, FL (WCMH) —  A police department warned dog owners that they’d do whatever it takes to save animals they see suffering in a hot car.

“Don’t. Just don’t,” the post to the Pensacola Police Department’s Facebook starts. “If you leave your dog in a hot car and that dog is suffering, we will do whatever we have to do to free him. Or her.”

Officers posted pictures of the puppy and the car window they smashed to rescue the small dog.

“We will drive your pooch to the caring folks at the Escambia County Animal Shelter and we will drop you off with the caring folks at the Escambia County Detention Facility,” the post continues.

The post has more than 11,000 likes and 8,000 shares as of Wednesday.
