COLUMBUS (WCMH)–A Columbus family is hoping a small investment in a home security system will lead to the arrest of the two men who burglarized their home.
The bandits kicked down the door to the west side apartment of Johnny Comacho on Tuesday afternoon. It was the second time in three weeks the family had been robbed.
But this time Johnny was watching the criminals in action on his cell phone.
“Them coming in, all nonchalant, not really caring-it gets to you,” said Comacho. “I definitely don’t want to have my wife and son here by themselves, you know what I mean. It pretty much ruins everything.”
The relatively inexpensive home security system activates with sound. In the video, you can see and hear the suspects kick in the door and yell they were police officers.
Johnny said this is the latest in a series of crimes in the area near Noble Park Apartments. It’s located just off Hilliard-Rome Road, south of Interstate 70.
The first time the family was robbed, the suspects took televisions, laptop computers, even a 9mm handgun.
“They pretty much took all of our stuff,” said Johnny. “They also took our camera with our baby’s pictures on it. All that stuff you can’t get replaced.”
Comacho shared his video on his Facebook account and it was shared more than 60,000 times. The post caught the eye of another man who lives in the complex nearby.
Michael Palmer believes he was also a victim of the same two thieves. He posted his video to Facebook as well.
“They took televisions and some video equipment,” said Palmer by phone.
Comacho hopes the video is enough to crack the case and put the two men behind bars.
