FONTANA, CA (WCMH) – The owner of a Chihuahua named Jack Sparrow is facing charges after the dog tested positive for methamphetamine.
According to Fontana police, the owner brought the dog to a veterinarian’s office and told staff that Jack Sparrow had ingested meth. After tests confirmed the presence of the drug, the owner left, taking Jack Sparrow with him.
At that point, the staff called for animal services.
When the animal service officers responded to the owner’s home, they found Jack Sparrow suffering from the effects of meth and saw other signs of neglect, according to police.
Jack Sparrow was seized from his owner and taken to an emergency center.
Police arrested 21-year-old Isaiah Sais and charged with felony animal cruelty.
Jack Sparrow is in temporary foster care while he recovers. Police say he is very sensitive to noise and sudden movement, but is expected to fully recover.
