Man found outside hospital with fatal gunshot wound

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police are trying to find out where a man with a fatal gunshot wound found parked outside the hospital was first shot.

Columbus police said the victim, 42-year-old Michael L. Johnson, was found just after 6:40am Sunday outside the Ohio State University East emergency room on East Broad Street in a vehicle. He had a life-threatening gunshot wound and was pronounced dead before 7am.

Investigators are unsure where the shooting occurred. The vehicle was driven to the hospital by a friend of the victim, but police are unsure if the friend had any involvement in the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the CPD Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS (8477).

This was the 50th homicide case in Columbus this year, according to police.
