Police looking for man who robbed teen at Newark fruit stand

NEWARK, OH (WCMH) – Newark police are looking for a man who robbed a teenage girl at a fruit and vegetable stand over the weekend.

The robbery happened at the Witten Farms fruit and vegetable stand in the parking lot of the former Valley Lanes on North 21ST Street.

Police say a man approached an 18-year-old female employee, claimed he had a weapon, and demanded cash.

The man then drove off in a silver car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix with a temporary license plate.

According to investigators, the suspect was last seen pulling in front of several cars as he turned north on 21st Street.

The suspect was described as a white male possibly in his 50s, standing around 6’3” tall with a ‘wide’ or ‘fit’ build. He had very short salt and pepper hair.

He was wearing a light gray shirt, black shorts and black athletic shoes.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect this morning. They say the suspect may have signs of aging that are not well depicted on the sketch.
