2 dead in single-wing plane crash in Clark County

HARMONY TWP., OH (WDTN) – Two people are dead after a single-wing plane crashed into a cornfield in Harmony Township Friday afternoon.

It happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Newlove Road and state Route 41 in Harmony Township, near South Charleston. Officials say the flight was experimental and that the plane is registered out of Detroit, the Harmony Township Fire Department said.

The Harmony Township Fire Department is on scene and the coroner has been called. The fire department confirms one of the two people dead is the pilot. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s chopper is overhead, attempting to learn more about the crash, the Harmony Township Fire Department said.
