SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WCMH)–You’re never too old for a field trip.
Sam, a 90-year-old who recently moved from Columbus to West Virginia, is in the early stages of dementia. His neighbor, Will Price, says Sam sometimes calls local police for help if he is delusional.
One officer, Andrew Gordon, comes by several times a week to check on him.
On Tuesday, Price saw Gordon and Sam headed out on a trip to see the new town fire station.
Sam was a firefighter for 25 years in Ohio, Price wrote on Facebook. He flagged the cruiser down and took a video.
“I’ll slide the pole if they have a pole,” Sam said excitedly.
“Our little town is very fortunate to have several officers just like this that go the extra mile to take care of their community,” Price wrote.
