KATY, TX (WCMH)–A former Katy High School teacher has been charged with having an improper relationship with a student.
KPRC-TV reports 42-year-old Robert Milton is a former art teacher at the school. Court documents show the relationship began while Milton was still a teacher and before the student graduated in 2015. The relationship reportedly continued after graduation.
The student told investigators that the relationship began on Instagram. Court records show that Milton told the girl he was unhappy with his wife. The teen said she met with Milton in April 2015 at a sculpture garden in Houston, because she booked him as a photographer to take her senior photos.
During the photo shoot, it began to rain so Milton and the teen took shelter in his car. They began to kiss and touch one another sexually, the document said. The kissing and touching stopped when the student began to feel uncomfortable, court records show.
The student said in the affidavit that she and Milton began meeting after school on Thursdays, and would often kiss and touch inside a storage closet.
After a period of time, the former teacher and the student had sexual intercourse before and after she graduated, according to court records. The student told investigators she and Milton would have sex in “cheap” hotels. They were once caught by police in Brookshire having sex inside Milton’s car, the document said. Court records show the girl told police she was of age at the time they were caught. The officer replied Milton was “old enough to be her father” and “to get out of there.”
Investigators confirmed that Milton did rent hotel rooms in his name for two to three hours at a time and paid for them in cash.
The school’s principal informed authorities about the relationship after he was approached by the teen and her mother.
Milton is out of jail on a $30,000 bond.
