Ohio couple indicted in shoe theft while child left at home

CLEVELAND, OH (AP) – A man and a woman have been indicted on charges that they assaulted and robbed a man of a pair of shoes while a 1-year-old child was left alone at home.

Twenty-five-year-old Hakeem Shomo of Cleveland and Nattasja Powell, 20, of Painesville were jailed in Cuyahoga County on charges including felonious assault and aggravated robbery. Powell is also charged with child endangering.

Authorities say she left her child alone early July 20 while she and Shomo met a man offering Nike Air Jordans through a smartphone app.

Authorities say they paid with counterfeit money and dragged the seller with their car when he tried to stop them as they drove away with the shoes.

No attorney information was listed in court records.

Authorities say the child is with relatives.
