DUI crash leads to bee attack

LAUREL COUNTY, KY (WCMH) – Police say an impaired driver created quite the buzz when he crashed his car into a pole, disturbing a hive of bees.

It happened last week in Lauren County, Kentucky.

“I just had got done feeding my chickens, watering them and stuff, and I walked back to my house there to get my phone so I could play a video game on it,” Gary Lee Anderson told WKYT. “And all of a sudden I heard a big ‘boom,’ and I looked back out my door and the electric pole fell and the lines were falling.”

That wasn’t the worst of it.

Police said there was a hive of bees nearby, and they were not happy about being disturbed.

Anderson then grabbed a hose and started to try and spray off the bees.

“I told him, ‘you need to get out of that water,’ but I didn’t know he was getting eat up by bees, I thought he was just high,” Anderson said.

The pair in the car was high on drugs and was looking for a place to swim.
