Boy, 10, turns parents into police after finding drug syringes

DOVER, PA (WGAL) — A Pennsylvania couple is facing drug charges after their 10-year-old son turned them in Sunday.

Police say the boy called 911 while his parents were away after he found drug syringes in their home. Police arrived and recovered eight syringes, four packets of heroin, a crack cocaine pipe and several other drug-related items.

Police then called the boy’s parents, Lakin Stoppard, 27, and Anthony Young, 26. Both were arrested and charged with possession of drug and child endangerment.

Concerned parents say the boy was brave for what he did.

“Can you imagine what he was going through in order to turn your own parents in? He must have been living in horrific conditions,” Holly Garner says.

The couple faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 22. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
